Presentation Skills
Background The ability to present well is an essential skill, but presenting is not necessarily something that comes naturally or easy. The key to good presentations concerns what we say and how we say it. We need to get content right - by making sure we have something relevant, coherent and digestible for our audience. We also need to get the performance right - make sure we create the right impression, are understood and heard. Purpose and Aims This course aims to give delegates the skills, knowledge and confidence to create and deliver effective presentations. It is tailored to reflect the specific demands of the types of presentations delegates undertake. For Any qualitative researchers who wish to develop their skills and confidence to create and deliver effective presentations. It is of relevance to researchers of any level, but especially those who are beginning to take responsibility for projects (or parts of projects) and who wish to become trusted advisers to their clients. Format The workshop comprises a series of exercises and activities (including key exercises where your presentations are videoed), plus some short lectures to ensure all delegates understand key principles, develop personal priorities and have the chance to practice and learn by 'doing'. Numbers are restricted, usually to a maximum of twelve delegates, to ensure everyone gets a personal appraisal and individual assessment of their voice projection, presentation style etc. The complementary experiences of two tutors (in presenting in a business environment and acting/voice development) provides a unique combination of tutelage.
