Advancing Your Moderating Skills
Background
The needs of new and junior qualitative researchers are well-served by various basic/foundation and moderating courses - but until now there has been little to meet the considerable interest amongst more experienced researchers for more advanced moderating courses.
Purpose and Aims
The purpose of this workshop is to give qualitative researchers a deeper understanding that will enable them to operate better. Specifically, it aims to advance moderators' expertise by refreshing, re-assessing and re-inspiring their moderating.
For
Qualitative researchers with at least two years' moderating experience - especially those who wish to find ways of enhancing their current techniques and keep up to date with current thinking and best practice.
Benefits
From this workshop you will
- gain the opportunity to 'step back' and review current working practices
- consider other ways and styles of moderating
- increase your skills at managing the group process (including dealing with difficult respondents and sensitive issues)
- develop more effective questions and projective techniques
- enhance your ability to 'receive' more from respondents and understand them more clearly.
