About us

Let's start with the guvnor, Mike Imms who founded the partnership and has developed and run all the courses with a range of collaborators. Mike Imms is an experienced marketer and trainer, having worked both 'agency side' and client side (public and private sector) during his twenty-five years in the marketing and marketing services industry.

Mike is a Fellow of the Market Research Society and a member of the Society's Professional Standards Advisory Board, a former committee member the Association I for Qualitative Research for eight years. His published writing includes co-editing a new series of 7 books 'Qualitative Market Research: Principle and Practice', published by Sage, in July 2002. He co-wrote the introductory volume in the series.

In 2009 Mike has stepped back for a few months but he remains thoroughly involved in the writing of the courses and in maintaining quality standards.

Joanna Chrzanowska and John Griffiths have taken over day to day running of the courses. They :

Joanna is one of the UK's most distinguished market researchers having worked with Bill Schlackman one of the founding fathers of qualitative research in the UK. She has trained researchers for many years. An NLP practitioner, she is a member of the Market Research Society and of the Psychological society. Her published work includes a volume on Projective Techniques in the series. Qualitative Market Research. Principle and Practice

John has worked as a planner and researcher for more than a quarter century. He has run training courses for many years covering account planning, the use of multimedia in research and using the internet to run research projects. He is a full member of the Market Research Society and also a member of the Account Planning Group and the Marketing Society. In 2004 his paper the Qual Remix won the prize for best new thinking at the MRS conference that year and was short listed for Best Paper. He has contributed chapters to several books about research and account planning.

Normally each course is taught by two trainers each of whom bring complementary skills. The course materials are made available afterwards. And increasingly we are using the internet as a way to extend the utility of the training either as a dropbox for documents or even to continue the discussion afterwards.

Other trainers who work with us include Audrey Niven and Pauline Williams.
